What lab results can I see in MyHealthPEI?
MyHealthPEI displays lab results for tests ordered by health care providers at health care sites – community locations and hospitals – across Prince Edward Island. Currently, results are available for general lab tests (from mid-May 2025 onward) and microbiology tests (from mid-July 2025 onward).
Over the coming months, lab results for cytology, blood bank and pathology tests will be available through MyHealthPEI.
What categories of tests fall under general labs results?
Currently, the following categories tests are included under general lab results available in MyHealthPEI:
- Chemistry
- Cardiac function and lipid profiles
- Nutritional status
- Kidney and Liver function
- Endocrine and tumor markers
- Blood gases
- Haematology
- Coagulation (e.g. INR orders)
- Immunology (including common Allergens)
- Therapeutic drug monitoring
- Other drug screening
- Serum toxicology
- Urine screening
What categories of tests are included under microbiology lab results?
Microbiology tests can help find the cause of an illness by testing body samples like urine, stool, blood, skin swabs, wound fluids, or other secretions to find and identify microbes such as bacteria, viruses, or fungi. The following categories of tests are included under microbiology lab results available in MyHealthPEI:
- Bacterial, fungal, and parasite testing (cultures and PCR)
- Antibiotic resistance screening tests
- Antibody & serology testing
- Antigen testing
- Diagnostic infection panels (brain, respiratory and gastrointestinal infections)
- Bacteria, viruses, fungi, or other substances to help with diagnosis
How long does it take for lab results to be available in MyHealthPEI?
It will be at least four days after the test is processed and completed for your lab results to be available to you in MyHealthPEI. Some lab tests take more time to process or may have to be sent off Island and will take longer to arrive in MyHealthPEI.
I noticed a recent lab result is not displaying in MyHealthPEI?
Through MyHealthPEI, you can access results for:
- General lab tests completed in mid-May 2025 or after
- Microbiology lab tests completed in mid-July 2025 or after
If you need access to results for earlier lab tests, you can request a copy of your lab results.
I had lab tests in another province, will the results be available in MyHealthPEI?
Even if you have a PEI health card at the time of the lab test in another province, the results will not be available to you in MyHealthPEI. You can request a copy of your lab results from the out-of-province health care provider who ordered the test or from the health care facility where the lab test was done.
Can I access lab results for my child or someone I am caring for in MyHealthPEI?
No, at this time you cannot view your child’s or dependent’s records in MyHealthPEI. However, if your child or dependent is 16 years of age or older, they can access their personal health information in MyHealthPEI by creating their own MyPEI Account and entering their PEI Health Card number. If this is not an option, you can request a copy of your child’s or dependent’s lab results from Health PEI.
Who should I contact if I see lab results that I do not believe are mine?
If you find incorrect information displayed in your lab results, please contact our eHealth Support Desk at 1-800-372-3588 and select option 2 or email myhealthpeisupport@gov.pe.ca.
Who can I speak to if I have questions about my lab results?
In most circumstances, the health care provider who ordered the lab test will follow up with you if they have any concerns about your lab results. Your provider may need some extra time to talk with other members of your health care team before they can give you a full explanation of the results.
If you have questions or concerns about your test results you can contact the health care provider who ordered the test. You can also contact your primary care provider, a virtual care provider or call 8-1-1.
